Hi,I bought a boat with a Alpha One coupled to a 302ci Engine. The outdrive needs a bit of work (it is not shifting properly), and I would like to buy a shop manual to help me out with the repairs and maintenace. The problem I have is I cannot posatively identify exactly what model I have. The serial number is 0F110717, which leads me to beleive it is a 1991 - 1995 Model Alpha One Gen2 (from this webpage ). But this is inconsistent with this page which states that the Gen2 drives havea 4 1/2' x 6 1/2' Cap - my drive has a 4 1/2' x 4 1/2' cap. To add to the confusion, I asked the guy I bought the boat from what he remembered about this drive, and his memory was that it was a Alpha One - MR, installed new in 1995 (motor was not replaced at that time).Any help would be really appreciated.Mike. Re: Help me identify my Alpha OneReading throught the manual, I read this:-Use Of Older Model Sterndrive UnitsOn Mercruiser IR-IMR ModelsMercury Marine does not recommend the use of oldermodel sterndrive units on IR-lMR models, as theunits will not mate up satisfactorily with the transomassembly. In addition, the older in-line model sterndriveunits are equipped with U-joint coupling endyoke (39385A1).

This yoke is shorter than yoke(59830A1) used on the IR-IMR sterndrive units andtherefore, will not fully engage the engine couplersplines. USE OF AN OLDER IN-LINE MODELSTERNDRIVE UNIT ON A IR-IMR MODEL WILLRESULT IN A SPLINE FAILURE TO COUPLINGAND/OR YOKE.-Is this the setup that I appear to have?
